The Maplewood Chamber of Commerce was started in 1935 and has consistently served as the voice of the business community. In 1979, the South Orange Chamber of Commerce started and began working with local businesses.

In 2021, the Maplewood and South Orange Chambers of Commerce merged to form the SOMA Chamber of Commerce. South Orange and Maplewood are two towns that have historically been intertwined as one community. They share a school system, diverse community, and a common vision. It only made sense to work together and serve the larger community.

The merger has also allowed the SOMA Chamber of Commerce more opportunities to bring local business owners together. Sharing the common goal to “connect, learn, and grow,” we know that we are better together and look forward to the future as one Chamber.
